From the beginning, the Patterson family has focused on Click here doing the right thing and PATCO became known as a Maine general contractor that always puts the customer first. The hard work and commitment to client satisfaction paid off and what started as a four-person company has grown into a team of over thirty construction professionals. We remain a family-owned enterprise, and have prospered under the leadership of Greg and Mark, the second generation of the Patterson family. Greg continues to oversee the commercial construction division, focusing on custom metal buildings through a design-build methodology and self-performed erection. Meanwhile, Mark excels in new home construction, designing and constructing residential homes, whether within company-owned developments or tailored to individual customer lots. A strong foundation is central to PATCO Construction’s story, just as it is at the heart of every project the company builds.

Owner Steve Morin explains, “We wanted to make sure we were set up for the changes in the industry. He had heard of PATCO Construction and reached out to local businesses who had worked with them to hear about their experience. Satisfied with the responses, Morin called the PATCO office. The main goal of the project was to create a safe and functioning propane fueling station for MSAD’s fleet of buses. The end result was a site with a propane tank and pump dispenser on an island for easy bus fueling and a 3,200 square foot warehouse with a 12×12 overhead door for storage.

PATCO Construction has thrived since its inception in 1985 and our longevity includes four experience-building decades that few other Southern Maine general contractors can match. It all began when Irving Patterson, a Sanford native, invited his son Mark to come work with him in new home construction. A few years later, son Greg joined as a third partner and helped PATCO expand with a commercial construction company branch of the business specializing in steel and metal building construction. Over the years, the Patterson family all worked together to build the business, with Irving’s wife Lorene, and three other sons helping out when needed. Irving never could have envisioned that his family-run business would become a pillar of the Sanford business community and a leader in Maine and New Hampshire’s construction industry.

The grass island with the propane tank is shielded by natural boulders to protect the island area, as well as to give a more natural aesthetic in lieu of guard rails. Additional fencing and bollards also contribute to site safety as well. The Design-Build process creates the framework around our Project Approach. Patco’s version of the Design-Build concept is different, because we perform much of the design in-house and we have our own erection and enclosure crews. These differences help us control cost, schedule and quality.
